Ranpyon - Dragon Pearl - Izumo River

At the very beginning, Lara won't get out of the kayak in that narrow channel. What's the trick?

If it's anything like the kayak from TR3, then you'll need to use the Roll (End) and left or right direction keys, but make sure Lara is in completely calm water first.

It's different here, as I just discovered. Delete key plus arrow key works in the open water (but you get sucked into the fan), but for some reason you need to use the Page Down plus arrow key in the narrow channel. Go figure.

I think I used the Walk button to get off the kayak. But Lara does not go down unless she remains completely still

Yes.
It works with "Pag Down + Right Arrow", but only if Lara has enough space to her right; if not she will refuse to dismount.
In this case, 'cause the water canal is too narrow, the player must situate the kayak very near of the left wall.
