Osvaldo - The Temple of Seth - Cuevas Egipcias

Post by TombTitan » 20 Jun 2018 13:27

I made it to level 3. I did everything in levels 1 and 2 except that I couldn't open this door to a secret in the lava area in level 2. How does it open?

P.S. I agree with Vimmers that this is a very good levelset so far, and one of the best customlevels of the last few years (quite difficult) despite the fact that it does not have any of the "eye candy" that the jaded reviewers on trle.net seem to only want now. This game is like TR4--Tomb Raider the Last Revelation which it emulates in size and scope.

You can find my walkthrough here:

But only for that level. I'm currently working on the walkthrough for the whole adventure. :bomb:

Thanks Jose,
I didn't know there was a demo (I never play demos or look at them). There are some differences between the demo walkthrough and the complete game's level 2. For example, the guardian key is obtained differently in the complete game.

I got the secret, and it was available exactly when I knew it would be. As usual, the one switch I had forgotten to try a second time was the one that opened the door. Fortunately, I could activate that switch near the end of the level without having to replay the large rooms with the pole and cartouches.

P.S. The third level is vaguely reminiscent of the original Dark Fall custom level in 2001.

Well, years ago was a member of tombraiderfans forum, but also years ago I unsuscribed in that forum (not enough respect with the builders), and I can't remember if Osvaldo was a member too or if I talked with him.
Anyway I found an e-mail in this forum and I'll send a message today asking for this.
I'll let you know if there's an answer.

Sorry vim, but this is Osvaldo's answer:

"I've got a problem with the English scripts, for some reason after compiling the new scripts the game crashes."

In fact I'm getting problems with the original scripts in the "La alberca de Seth" level.
When I load a savegame I can't use the "Esc" key or the function keys to save or load another savegame or the game crashes.
To avoid this I needed to move Lara to another room before touching any of that keys.

I had no problem with the ESC key or function keys in the "la alberca del Seth" level. However, we have all been playing the hub levels in a different order, and that may make the difference.

There was a similar bug in HyperSquare 2 in one of the urban Nairobi levels where this happened in the lab section, and part of the game had to be replayed to eliminate this bug.

Osvaldo's problem with making the English scripts may be due to language differences from the original Spanish language version in the strings.h and object.h files, etc. He probably has to recompile the wads, etc. to change this.

The 124-page walkthrough for this massive adventure is now ready and will be posted later today. Many thanks to José and to TombTitan for their collaborative effort.
