Favourite Genre of Game?

Post by High Priestess » 27 Aug 2017 22:10

I personally like Venetian levels and urban ones.

How about your own preferences? Oh and I adore most Easter and seasonal levels :2thumbsup:

I'm a fan of both Christmas and Easter levels, but also Venice, Greece and train levels. I'm also fond of floating islands levels. :D

That's an interesting question. I like epic levels that have something new, or levels with some exploration involved, or a level that is a bit cheeky (Ruediger's levels come to mind in this case). :) I like light-hearted Christmas levels too.

I like well made levels with good gameplay, not too cryptic. Obvious, right?

I've got a soft spot for well made TR3 levels.

I enjoy eye candy settings and a good sound, games based on movies, lab levels, city levels, teleportation/time travel/some alien levels, Christmas ( and sometimes Easter) levels, horror levels, some London levels, mystery levels, Nevada levels and creative things in general.

I don't much like Viking levels, Egyptian levels and Peruvian levels in general the same as I dislike TR1, horsemen and too many traps.

But I'm open to anything interesting. :)

Hi Ryan,

I too love train levels! I particularly enjoy the challenge of fighting Ninjas on the carriage rooftops - preferably heading towards the rear of the moving train whilst it's speeding forward. It makes me dizzy :D

The only negative experiences where trains are concerned is when one appears on the tracks in the underground areas. That never fails to scare the life out of me - I'm always a nervous wreck when darling to explore the tracks

Some interesting answers.

I too am not enamoured with TR1 - for me it was somehow claustrophobic and perhaps a little drab. TR II was actually the first game I played and it was just so colourful. I am not keen on temples, tombs per se nor viking type levels either. I think if the game was true to its namesake it would have grown tiresome so it was good to experience a more diverse theme or two.

I'm quite keen on London levels and anything based in the city. Labs - I am divided on labs. I am not a fan of laser traps for example but some have proved to be quite achievable.

I count "Fireworks" as one of my top favourites as it was loosely based on Titanic and in spite of the to-ing and fro-ing back and forth, it had real charm :2thumbsup:

I also like team built levels like Clara and Masha's. Titak is a genius also :D For examples Himilayan Mysteries and I Am Legend - both very expertly executed levels :2thumbsup:

Train levels are always exciting!

On the old Eidos forum I used to host a screenshot contest weekly and I won my own contest one week with a very weird capture :D I felt really bad as a hostess winning her own contest but it was a really weird shot as I recall and rather funny! :D

Well me being me I like Unclassed (Games in the No Class Category) as they are very different to other TRLEs.

Saying that i also like Wild West, Atlantis and Venice Levels. But i do hope someone will make an Apocalyptic Theme Level (Maybe with lara time traveling to the future.

But TBH i typically go for Any Class.

Oh Wild West levels are fantastic. My late father was a great fan of Westerns and I am possibly Ennio Morricone's biggest fan :D I bought quite a few soundtracks of his.

I am guessing then that Coyote Creek is a firm favourite of yours? :-P
