Re: Back To Basics 2014 - Khmer Empire - Registration Open
And a timely reminder that there is just one week left to get your registration in (by February 28), if you would like to enter the builder's competition.
I can report that we are on schedule with package testing - just a few things to attend to over the weekend. We have been in beta-testing for last three weeks, with final package testing by the team in the coming week. We are on track for a March 3 kick-off.
So registered builders - watch out for your notification around that date for news on the Builder's Forum and building package.

Re: Back To Basics 2014 - Khmer Empire - Registration Open
I'm really looking forward to BtB! didn't open the editor since last years btb.. Unfortunately I didn't finish my project in time last year.. so I hope that this year will be my comeback to the LE scene

Re: Back To Basics 2014 - Khmer Empire - Registration Open
So I hope for mine... just like I did in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. Gosh, gotta finish those missing partstombraider1703 wrote:I hope that this year will be my comeback to the LE scene

Nope - I just had more time than usually, so I wrote within 1 post what I usually write in 5larabiker301 wrote:DeepDJ Full wrote:1...2...3... blah blah blah

please.....let's not even wish that in jest! these btb competitions require enormous commitments from the team as it is - we should be

Naah, I don't wish for the package to turn out buggy despite of all effort
I'm just saying there's always a 0.0000000021 per cent of possibility that something has been overlooked - and in such case, it'll be better if I find it than if I don't

Can't agree more
btw will there be a pdf file with the objects as I find that ever so handy (and have no clue how to assemble that)

Re: Back To Basics 2014 - Khmer Empire - Registration Open
Anytime Soul took part, he provided such pdf... but this time I can take half of his work on myself - maybe he'll picture moveables and I'll do statics, or vice versa

Matie has provided those pics for the btb's in the past as well.

Again...quoting the registration announcement
I'm 10 steps ahead of you.In addition to the building components, the building package will contain a full wad list with credits and instructions for special setups, an image-based ready reference for all wad items, and a full custom audio list with credits.

Gotta read the small print.

Re: potential problems with the pack
More than anyone can know, I worry about this more than is healthy for me, so excuse if I get a bit twitchy around this time. I hopefully learned a lot from the experience last year's build, and truly hope that I have minimized the errors and omissions. In that sense, I am realistic enough to know that enough homework has been done to think of nearly everything, but in reality there is always that 1% doubt that there's something that crops up in a practical situation that hadn't been thought of. And of course, if any issues arise, or there is an omission that affects the function of another object in the wad, then I will try to respond immediately with a solution. What I won't entertain though is the "I wish this or that was in the wad or texture set" requests just to suit individual builders. If I recall correctly, the first BtoB levels were all built with the standard tr4 Catacombs wad, and there were some pretty good levels built there with limited resources. There's a lot more stuff in this pack, so I hope builders will be happy with it. <inserts mega anxious smiley here
