blocked games

Post by jeff sadler » 27 Feb 2019 14:06

Good Day all
Today I find that the Barking and Dagenham, UK library has block downloads from the Trle.net of free game

Virus/Spyware Download Blocked
Download of the virus/spyware has been blocked in accordance with company policy. Please contact your system administrator if you believe this is in error.
File name: tomb4.exe

This was not block by the Anti Virus software.
I log into the site and pick a new game to download and click on it.
A new window appear with the above on it.
It appears that the IT department has block the free download.
There by stopping kids from playing the free games that users make.
Happy raiding.

Well, I can't open any site even remotely related to games at school. It's like that in every school and it's been that way for years...

Hello all
Yes it appear that the web site is block by IT departments and they are not talking about it.
I have ask to talk, or an appointment to talk to IT department, and was told no.
However the IT department is allowing other web site that are gaming site to be used.
IT department are targeting the Tomb.exe, and blocking it for some reason and they are not giving a reasons why.
I will keep you updated, I now am going to talk to the Mayor.
Happy raiding.

Good Day all
Have not had a reply to my Email to the LB Barking and Dagenham Mayor.
And the IT department have not made an appointment for me to talk to them.
Maybe I'm hitting my head on the wall.
Maybe Monday then, we see if the Mayor reapply.
happy raiding

So you've written to your local Mayor, asking him/her why the local Library won't allow you to download Custom TombRaider levels to the library's PC's...?

Why can you not download them to your Laptop instead?
Is a Library the most absolutely appropriate venue to play loud, shooty games?

In reapply, I do not play games in the Library, I am not loud or miss using the computers.
sorry I'm so boring.
I do not troll people or say things about them that are lies.
Normally I would stay with the subject and not get involve with trolling people, I only hope to help if I can, I find the post of no help or was it just to attack me.
Happy raiding all.

I wasn't trolling - I was inquiring!
I shall continue to inquire :)

Why are you wanting to download games to a PC in your public library if you don't intend to play them there?
Once again - why aren't you simply downloading them to your laptop, like the rest of us?

I'm still intrigued as to why you thought your local Mayor would have any influence, though.

Good day all
Unlike most people using this site I use my real name, and do not ask people to explain there self to me, I no longer work for the Police.
Being rude to me or just talking down to me, just go over my head, and I know if someone trolling me.
Best to read the first post, and other on the subject, or carry on being intrigued.
Remember this is not a chat forum, it for helping people, and for people who have input that may or would help others.
In one of my post I do say I have no internet, and use my lap top for my game making.
This I feel you must have read before making your claim about me, regards my using of the public libraries.
Sorry you fail, to see what I was saying.
I do hope you have a nice day.
Thank you all, but still no one is coming up with answers, and no replies to my Emails.
However I can now download the games at the library.
This has made me very intrigued, my nose is telling me something is not right.
Happy raiding all, and hope you enjoy my new game.

Really, I just think the IT employees thought the site was suspicious. Or they don't want people to download games (which, according to varying antivirus brands, depending on the used exes) they think may be suspicious at the library. At first sight, I think it's as simple as that.

Jeff,I have been called many things;but I can assure you I'm not a troll. :)
I shall refrain from being intrigued any further.

Indeed, this is clearly a miserable failure on Marksdad’s part, since a moderator can be expected to keep tabs on members’ internet connection (or lack thereof), their marital status, how many spelling bee contests they’ve won, and other pertinent information.

As the status of being intrigued has now passed on from Marksdad to you, I have to say that I am now intrigued myself about this internet business, which you appear to consider fishy (no doubt correctly, what with you having formerly worked with the police). Keep the updates coming.

Hmm...

Jeff, I hope you understand sarcasm...

-----------

I think I should - and will - add I think Jeff's an ok guy.
He was wrong in taking Ian for a troll.
But I think he means well.

the only reason i can see that you can't download anything
from a specific site
are that the iIT administrator of the library
have set everything to high in internet options
either in the router or the pc you download from
like this
Image

you should try to download the games or what you try to download
from other sites
aka levelbase or TREditor HU

I'd like to see Jeff back. Quite honestly, I don't see any reason not to. :)
