All TR levels crash = help

Post by SuzanneJack » 20 Sep 2017 18:54

I downloaded Cake World and was playing for a second and forgot to read the read me. So I exited and read it and it said to change the resolution to 1920 x 1200 32 bit. I did that and it crashed, now all my levels crash :(
Any one know why?

That must have been awful. There is one download that works all the time I am playing but if I exit the game and reload it crashes - BADLY! I tried a System Restore too but to be honest, this game crashed 4 years ago on a different PC so nothing can be done which is a shame - it had great reviews and I was enjoying it!! :bigcry:

Hey everyone! This was driving me nuts - I'm running a 1080 TI so was losing my mind when the levels would crash with 'Failed to setup direct X'; just in case this happens to you - make sure your Output settings match your Texture bit depth so if one is 16bit, the other has to be 16 bit - for me, my monitor is 2560x1440 and the perfect settings that runs (so far every level now) is:

Output: 1920x1080 16 bit
Texture Bit Depth: 16 Bit RGBA 5551
Render (selected): Hardware acceleration, bump mapping, bilinear filtering

On some levels the 16 bit option is missing so I have a -setup exe that I copy into games that does have it.

I hope this helps anyone else who has this issue because I didn't play any levels since last year because of how annoyed I was with it and wasn't able to find a solution.

Got me lots of backlog to catch up on!
