Returning to this site after years - Mac user

Post by Yez » 29 Jul 2017 23:04

I used to play TRLE levels on my Mac years ago. I **really** loved playing these amazing levels and would love to play again. Before I try getting set up to play again, is it even possible? Are some of the old levels playable on current Macs (eg OS 10.11.6.) ?

I can dig out an old Mac that has OS 8 something, but I've forgotten how to identify levels that were playable on a Mac -- there was a particular file type or something? And how to identify levels that are complete downloads (eg don't have to access the level editor in order to play).

I don't have much hope, but would sure love to play some of these levels again.

TIA from an old newbie

hi and welcome back
you don't need the leveleditor
all levels are playable from the zip file from trle.net
but i don't know anything about mac
why don't you just download a level and test it
i know there are some levels there aren't playable on a mac
but that should stay on the infopage the level belong to

Most older levels are playable on a Mac 8 or 9. The OS 10 might give problems, special the later ones.
The site to have a good look/read is: http://www.users.on.net/~macraider/

The levels made by the newest engine (NGLE - TRNG and so) you cannot play on a Mac.

Thanks all! Do i remember correctly that there are some levels that are playable without having the editor installed (and having to switch out the DAT files, etc)? How do I identify those?

Thanks for your help.

Look for reviews done by Dimpfelmoser.
All those he played on a Mac.
There might be a few more levels playable on a Mac but not much more, reviewed by me but it has to say so in the review itself.
The levels that you download now are all ready to go (so to speak) so indeed no need for the editor to be installed.
I can't tell you if it will work as I cannot play TR anymore on my Mac (OS is 10.7.5).
