Printer turning on....

Post by bene » 22 Nov 2015 19:21

and I am assuming not by itself ....ghost in the machine, anyone???
I think someone is using our wi-fi and it's a daily, in fact, all day, ongoing thing to the point where I rarely bother turning it off any more.

Anyone have a solution for it?

Your wifi not secured by password? Is printer sharing enabled on your PC or homegroup?
But normally the printer doesn't turn itself on when one pc in the homegroup wants to print something. At least not here, it has to be on to be able to use it from one of the pc's

Well, that's easy to find out. If for instance a neighbor comes to your house and can access your wifi without asking you for the password, then it is unprotected

well then, it is password protected soooo
back to a ghost in the machine

actually this house does have a history of weird electrical happenings such as the doorbell chiming in the middle of the night and smoke alarms going off also always late at night.....hasn't happened lately, though.
