Post by madtong » 17 Apr 2015 14:11

Hello tout all !

:D Must agree on that, my cellphone screen is tiny ! But nothing différent of a PSP if you think of it, with those joysticks made for smartphones

Will a laser sight even work at this resolution? Or is it hardcoded to cover 3x3 pixels? :inquisitive: EDIT: It seems it is, in case if You succeed try Tower Guardian of King Arthur Project :D

As i said before, i'm currently playing tr1 on my cellphone and, yes , its kind of dificult to have a nice view of the game but it can be done. The hardest thing are the controls, with the touchscreen controls i'm using but i'm gonna buy me a nice joystick. So my point is, if you can play tr1 why not trle levels ?

I'm actually surprised TR1 doesn't cause any problems, it's surely older, less compatible and troubling PC users the most. TR4 engine is quite different, hard to tell if it will work on a cellphone without actually checking if it does... I would first try with some standalone yet classic level, no TREPs or TRNGs, just raw classic exe.

Tr1 don't cause any problem because it is an official app for android. Some fun with Lara on my way to work was a great deal. My biggest fear is having to install an emulator for windows xp on my cellphone, so i can run tr4.exe, emulators can be tricky and i fear that it can ruin my cellphone... The other fear i have is that tr4.exe may not recognise the joystick i'm gonna use ...

Playing TR1 on ~5"+ phones isn't troubling, it's actually good, and even better if you can connect a gamepad (actually 4,5"+ is already ok). So I don't really see why would any custom deal any sort of trouble in terms of gameplay. TR1 was officialy ported by Square Enix, looks way better than ever, but it would be tricky to port anything else. Porting TR for linux isn't the only thing that would need to be dealt with, there's also virtual pad and buttons to add. And perhaps some new system to detect a gamepad connected to a smartphone. So a simple .exe emulator wouldn't help you much, it would take a developer for this :balloon:

Does that "ported TR1" at least have the soundtrack done right?

Where have you found a WinXP emulator? Even if you'd install WinXP on an Android phone (not emulate it), you'd still need to deal with touch controls. So from a really basic perspective -- no.
