TRLE on Windows 8

Post by Isis » 24 Jan 2013 13:19

I've just bought a new computer (picking it up Saturday so I don't have it yet) as my old Vista PC is on its last legs and I'm just wondering if TRLE/NGLE/TRNG will work on Windows 8. Is anyone else using Windows 8 yet for level editing?

This morning I spoke to a friend of a friend who is an IT expert and on telling him I was getting Windows 8, his first response was "Good Luck". I'm a bit worried now ... :anxious:

Thanks Vimmers, I've just discovered these patches - although they seem to just relate to playing the official games (?) Anyway I'll give them a try and if they don't work for the level editor I'll try the Win 7 ones. :)

Can't download from the link you put in here, clicking the download link takes me to the contact support where I can't find a patch to download. Looks like the links are down

For the last two weeks I had no problems on W8, TR Redemption gave no problems, some other levels I tried also ran perfect.

The last two days testing a level resulted in problems loading the game from a savegame. Then it loads, then not

Downloaded the patch, but that's a patch for the ORG games for XP/Vista no mention of W7/W8 anywhere, only above the link. Still the game crashes when trying to start from a savegame.6 for instance like before the patch

I renamed the crashing savegame.6 to savegame.0 and it opens... :? this was already the case before the installing the patch

the patches are to my knowledge only to original games
but the le levels are the same cos if you change something with a patch its going on for all
levels and original games
cos the patch goes to regedit core design

will be HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Core Design

Where'd we land on this Windows 8 business? i can't even get the levels to load; the game crashes before it even starts--and i've run all the different compatibility modes listed in the setup. Can anyone help?

The same problem. When I get new computer with new windows 8.1, custom levels don't work. Even downloaded Direct X didn't help.

If no one have answered yet, so this means there is no way to solve this problem. So this the end of playing TR customs? I've searched the Internet for solving this problem and I found nothing....

We're all playing without problems...Can't recall if I did something special...
Did you find the compatibilty function, I think that's the only thing I did, compatibility will be set automatically and you can test too.

tried the compatible mode and, at least, the opening screen was there but distorted to where it still can't be played.

where to go from there?
how to adjust this?

DirectX???
don't even know if 8.1 includes it....going to check
