What notebook to get for winroomedit (ngle)

Post by snork » 17 Jun 2010 16:33

So, finally I am close to getting a new computer to replace this ~12 year old desktop. :)
It will definitely be a notebook, most probably an ASUS one.

But when I invest such a fortune (for me it is), I would not want to have this texture-disappearing problem in NGLE winroomedit. (see picture, by scoopy loopy)
I want to use "oldstyle" NGLE winroomedit, version 1.0.9.13.

I do have the problem on this old hardware too (XP, Geforce2 graphics) and setting ngle.exe to win98 compatability does not really help.
So, if possible, I do not want to rely on the compatability trick "solving" the problem.

As the notebook I am thinking about does come with a variety of graphics to choose from, I hope someone among you has one of these graphics devices in your notebook and can tell if it works or not.

The notebooks come with "hybrid graphics", so I could always switch off the extra graphics device and run on
integrated Intel HD. (basically the same as Intel gma X4500) Should ngle run fine on this one, that would be so :2thumbsup:

additional graphics to choose from :
nvidia GT 310
nvidia GT 325
Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5145
Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5470
Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5730

So, anyone any experiences with one of these ?

this is what I mean :
