Lara can't climb, shimmy or MS

Post by SuzanneJack » 27 Jan 2007 13:47

I installed the LE and Level manager on a new notebook with all the right specs. Lara has a problem holding on to things and falls unless I go one step at a time. I was trying to climb a ladder with timed fire and it was impossible. What would make this happen? Can I fix this?

Sounds like you need to install the REVISED wads. These contain all animations in all wads (unlike the original ones supplied with LE).
You can find the updated wads here.

Then you haven't played some of the older levels that don't come with wad files and require converting (note that this only applies to levels based on certain wads). Good for you.

Actually, speaking of older levels,I tried to get 'Dark Fall' to play, and since I'm using the revised wads I'm assuming that's why it won't load...how do I get round this,'cos DF sounds like a pretty good level :?

You'd probably have to download/reinstall the level editor to get the original files again (though you should always have an extra copy of it installed at all times anyway). Or I guess you could just get someone who has the files to send them to you.

Dark Fall will only run using the original wads. I have a Dark Fall Tr4 file which you can put into your data folder, after backing up your original catacombs TR4 file.

It is also handy to look at the reviews as sometimes you can read about the "using of reveised or not revised WADS" in there.

In the matter of Dark Fall I said:
For only a Catacomb TOM and no revised WAD this is soooooo good
Oops, I did it again... Image

Well the revised wads didn't make a difference  I just don't get it. I'm going to uninstall everything and reinstall and see if that works. I'll even try playing the old fashion way with the LE only.

runs to find directions on playing the "old fashion way" :anxious:

vimmers, the reason I use Level manager is because all you have to do is select the level and the LM does everything else for you. First time with a real notebook, but I give up anyway. The notebook at work has better specs then the one I have at home, so I don't get it. I'll just play on monday's when I'm off, or maybe just give up on TR all together and get my head out of me ****

What if I made a WAD for a level I'm building and now I have to put in the revised WAD because Lara won't climb walls. If I just put in the revised WAD I will probably loose all my earlier work, or is there a way around this problem?

All you need to add from any revised wad is the Lara object, it's the first object when you open a wad. This contains all of Lara's animations. :)
