Screenshot sizes

Post by Mister-B » 26 Jan 2013 17:36

Hi guys,

I often have the problem that screenshots in my post are very small. Whenever I try to upload a screenshot I am advised that the size may not be larger that 500 x 375 pixels which is not all that great. However whilst reading other posts in the forum I stumble upon other screnshots that are obviously bigger than my restricted size. How can that be? For comparison see my post with restrictions on page 4 of this forum " Re: Amethyste - The Temple Of The Sun" and Scottie's post on page 1 of the same forum. Scottie's picture properties tell me that his screenshot has a size of 800 x450 pixels.

I can't offer you an explanation - the maximum pic size of 500 X 375 is indeed the set control, but obviously the board chooses to ignore that in this instance. What we do insist upon is avoiding pic sizes that result in having to scroll across the screen in order to view the pic. Just common sense - if you want to post a larger pic, within reason, go ahead.

I haven't been able to post any screenshot that is bigger then 500 x 375 pixels.
Unless I put it on a PhotoBucket or ImageShack and then link it.
Oops, I did it again... Image

Just like Gerty says, the system stops me from posting pictures larger than 500 x 375. It no great problem, it's just that sometimes it's very hard to determine where in a level the player is, especially in dark levels, from small pictures. I may PM Scottie and ask him how he manages to post larger pictures.

The size restriction applies only when you upload an image as an attachment. If you post it elsewhere - like Tinypic, as Scottie did - there are no restrictions, except common sense ones, like not posting a super-huge image that stretches out the forum page. :)
