PROJECT WITH 2 LEVELS

Post by franky » 17 Sep 2018 17:08

Hello
I have a project that has 2 levels that are creating problems for me.

The problem is this despite having put in the SCRIPT 2 sections [LEVEL] with different names for each level

Despite having added the names of the levels in STRING
Despite having created 2 WADs one for each level

When I open the level and I have to make the choice of the level the same name always appears to me, even though there is the true level inside of each one.

QUESTION: there is someone to help me, otherwise I can not publish the level?

Thanks Franky

Hello Franky! Nice to meet you.

Well, if I'm not mistaken, you mean that you have two levels, and two separate data files, right? But each time the New Game screen is prompted for you, you see identical level names for both of the level files...

Solution : A small, but troublesome problem in SCRIPT.TXT :

Sometimes, small errors and mistakes make our game not to function properly, here we have a fully functional script, with no errors :

[Level]

Name= Egyptian Cargo Train
Horizon= ENABLED
Layer1= 128 , 128 , 128 , 8
UVRotate= 8
LoadCamera= 1258 , -254 , 125 , 1358 , 569 , 120 , 1
Train= ENABLED
ColAddHorizon= ENABLED
ResetHUB= 2
Level= DATA\CARGO , 128

[Level]

Name= Office
Horizon= ENABLED
Layer1= 128 , 128 , 128 , 8
LoadCamera= 1258 , -254 , 125 , 1358 , 569 , 120 , 1
ColAddHorizon= ENABLED
Level= DATA\OFFICE , 148

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although some errors could happen here :

Problem 1 : Non-identical names, identical data files !
Remember not to have two level blocks with the same data files. Always try to put different names per each level, even if you think it is irrelevant to the level's context. A common mistake:

Level= DATA\OFFICE , 128 ; XXX WRONG SYNTAX
Level= DATA\OFFICE , 148 ; XXX WRONG SYNTAX

Problem 2 : Identical names !
Remember not to have two level blocks with the same names or strings. A common example :

Name = Office ;XXX WRONG SYNTAX
Level= DATA\OFFICE , 128

Name= Office ;XXX WRONG SYNTAX
Level= DATA\XANDERA , 148

Well, I hope this helps you a little. However, I suggest you sending a part of your game's script so I can help you better in that case. If you still have problems, let me know. I'll be happy to help you.

Hello
in the SCRIPT the name of the levels are different for the [Level] sections and also in the STRING

QUESTION: what can be done?

Even if the names are SAME in there is the right level

Give me some advice, I should publish the level but you can not

[Level]
Name= Return to Atlantis 1
Horizon= ENABLED

[Level]
Name= Return to Atlantis 2
Horizon= ENABLED

In the selection I see the name of the 2nd level "Return to Atlantis 2"

Hi Franky

Hello Franky.

Well, there could be only one issue:

Numbers are considered as an illegal formatting for level names in TR4 game system.

Try these names instead:

Name= Return to Atlantis - Part One
Name= Return to Atlantis - Part Two

Also, do not forget the necessary syntax :
LoadCamera= SourceX, SourceY, SourceZ, TargetX, TargetY, TargetZ, RoomNumberIndex
Level= DATA\SOMETHING, SOME_AUDIO_FILE

If you still have problems, please let me know. I'd like to help you. Thanks . :2thumbsup: :D

Hello
I tried to put the names

Name = Return to Atlantis - First part
Name = Return to Atlantis - Second part

In the game appears on all 2 levels "Return to Atlantis - Second Part"

Within these 2 uguai names there are the right levels.

QUESTION: did you ever happen to something like that?

I do not know what to do anymore.

A very rare situation to happen.

I hadn't encountered with this problem before... The reasons could be identical names, or... identical data files.

Can you please tell me your level file names??? This part I mean :

Level= ?\? , ???

Perhaps maybe there is a problem with that one...

Thanks.
