grappling hook

Post by mugs » 07 Feb 2012 17:24

The grappling hook object comes with a great set of instructions, but, as I am only able to do, I still cannot get it to work. I tried contacting the author, but I am getting no response so I'm asking for advice here. The crossbow_bolt has to be rendered invisible and then made visible only through the use of binocular or laser-sight. That, according to the author, is made possible by entering the following info into script:

GlobalTrigger= 1, IGNORE, GT_USING_BINOCULAR, IGNORE, IGNORE, 2, 1
TriggerGroup = 1, $5000, 621, $32
TriggerGroup = 2, $5000, 621, $33

For description purposes, TriggerGroup 1 sets the mesh as invisible. TriggerGroup 2 sets the mesh as visible. The #621 refers to the number assigned to my bolt.

The bolt remains visible ingame whether or not the scope is in use. Can anyone advise what I am doing wrong and, better yet, how to fix it ?

Thanks.

Have you tried setting invisible in the OCB?

great suggestion! it works in terms of not seeing the bolt before the scope is used, but the scope doesn't show it either. :lol: I think I'll quit while I'm ahead. Thank you though!!

EDIT: Sorry. Ignore my original post. Thought you were quoting the authors readme but 621 is your ID.

No idea what's wrong. Haven't used TRNG in awhile. I assume the ACTION trigger numbers haven't changed since the author made their script?

GlobalTrigger= 1, IGNORE, GT_USING_BINOCULAR, IGNORE, IGNORE, 2, 1
TriggerGroup = 1, $5000, 621, $32
TriggerGroup = 2, $5000, 621, $33

You need to change the number 621 to the ID number of the bolt in your project.

If the bolt is placed in the level, to get the ID hover the mouse near it and note the number in the yellow box that pops up.

If it is not placed in the level you may need to get the ID from the dropdown box in the Set Trigger dialog.
Select ACTION trigger.
