Rview trouble

Post by Samu » 07 May 2008 14:49

Hello :)

I recently tried using Rview first time. I opened the original catacomb tr4 file and exported a room of it to dxf file. Then I edited it with Meta, saved the room and imported the modified room in Rview but the result wasn't what I expected. The room got somehow corrupted as you can see from the screenshot. I added only 2 new faces and splitted few faces to smaller parts to see how modifying rooms works with Rview. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have also an other question about Rview. It seems that I can use only 64x64 textures in Rview, so does it mean there's no way to texture the modified rooms with the new high resolution textures? I would really like to create more detailed shapes for my level and be able to use also 128x128 textures. Any kind of help will be appreciated.

Did you save the DXF with the triangle has four points option checked?

Have you heard about a new program called meta2tr?
This is a new way of editing room meshes. You just drag your tr4 level onto the program and indicate which room you want extracted. The program outputs the textured room in Meta's format and you can modify the room in Meta. Once done, you just drag the modified Meta file back onto the program and it puts it back into the TR4 level.

Thenks for replying :) .Triangle has four points option was enabled when I saved the dxf. I made some more testing and the weirdest thing is that sometimes the rooms don't get corrupted when imported to Rview but sometimes they do.

I've also heard about meta2tr but haven't tried out that. Where can I download it?

http://meta2tr.googlepages.com/home

Meta2tr may be the way to use 128 x 128 textures also.

If not, you can use PixStr 2.2 to get 128 x 128 textures into the TR4 and use Rview's Textures>Panel 2 menu to select them.

Thanks for the link. I'll try the program when I have time for that. :)

Meta2tr will handle up to 256x256 textures, and you have complete freedom on the shape of the texture. But it is more suited to final editing.
