Post by Tony Tomb » 14 Feb 2006 01:03

MAC level editing tools can be downloaded here (1.15 MB)

Thanks to Gerty for sending them to me! (edited by eTux 21.01.08.)

What were the final versions of them..? Maxx seems to have dumped everything to do with TR way back... :(

Yes, even Blacksheep who I think helped Maxx in some way or another does not know how to get in touch with him. Anyhow I have three tools. The file type fixer doesn't seem to have a version. But the Texture Edit is v1.2.1 and the wad tool is Toolbox v1.0b6. :)

Someone who actually used or uses it may give a more elaborate answer - but basically it's a wad editing tool in the Mac environment (sort of what TRWest and Wadmerger are for PC users).

You can do everything that is in the manual as you only can build levels with the original Level Editor.
None of the stuff they made for the PC, like TREP, FLEP, or an extended EXE like in NGLE.

If you want to have more info about which OS that works with TR, the best site is this one.
It is not a site where you learn about building it is more about the info if the game can/will run on a MAC and in which OS.
There is however some info about sound samples (sfx) and the sounds in general.

As Gerty says, TR room editor for mac can do everything that Win version can do, basically. But Mac version cannot rewrite the texture's address even if you use the project files that's in those folders or you renew. You need "TRLEFileTypeFixer".

Sorry, my poor English. :hammer:

okay, can someone answer my question. Is there a way to convert a mac level to .exe so PC users can play?

As far as I know you don't need to convert the EXE as long as the level is made with the original Level Editor.
I see you use OS9 so that shouldn't be a problem.
Also I don't mind testing it if you want to be absolutely sure :)

And as for playing on the MAC not all levels can be played as most of the levels are made on a PC and just a few on a MAC.
As long as you stick to the "old" levels there will be no problem.
Look at the reviews, in there you can read which can and which can't as I tried to write that in my reviews.
Also if Dimpfelmoser has reviewed a level, you can be sure that it is playable on a MAC.

When I have been building some my levels on Mac OS9 and MAXX's tools, most of all thing has been OK.
I want to play the new level that has been build on Mac OS.
