PROBLEM WITH THE FIXED CAMERA

Post by franky » 03 Dec 2019 13:43

Hello everybody

QUESTION: Is there anyone who can help me understand why fixed cameras sometimes all work sometimes NO?

In practice in the game when Lara pulls a lever a door should open that opens, but in the game you can see it for a very short time and it is almost imperceptible.

Hello and thanks

Not sure why a fixed camera wouldn't trigger correctly, but if you want to trigger one after Lara used a switch for a certain amount of time, you can place the fixed camera's trigger under the switch trigger and type the number of seconds in the timer field of this camera's trigger. :)

This sounds like you've caught the rollingball bug. If you've triggered one, make sure it doesn't come to rest on a trigger (any kind of trigger). It disturbs cameras in the way you describe.

So that I did, but the Fixed Camera doesn't work well

NO no Rollingball that stops on any Trigger.

In my opinion this is one of the many NGLE bugs.

I can't understand and see which solution to use

I did further tests and you were right, there is a ROLLINGBALL that does not allow the activation of the Fixed Camera.

Hello and thanks for the help.

Are you using any rollingball in your game? Make sure any of your rollingball stands over a trigger

I did?
As mulf said, there's a bug with cameras and rollingballs, if a rollingball is stepping over a trigger tile, it will make the camera perform for one frame instead of the desired lenght

I don't really see why that should be funny but ok

In some cases, fixed cameras won't work with a timer. Instead, use a standard camera, or a cutscene one or even a flyby with only one camera.

To be sure there's nothing conflicting with your special triggers (switch, pickup, etc...), test your camera with only one trigger for it, and Lara directly placed near the trigger. Then add your special triggers.
