How to make a TREP flipeffect for changing a hardcoded sound?

I have used a smash-object in my level. When Lara jumps against it, it shatters with an explosion sound. That sound is hardcoded to the object, as it has no animation.

But in my level the object is a natural object, which does not explode and should use a wooden sound. I can't just change the sound sample, because Lara's pistols use the same sound.

I use a TREP-modified game engine. Is any of the TREP-experts around to help me figure out how to do this?
