By the way, it would be a great idea to create a specific forum for birthday threads!

Good evening all,
getting back to the OP's post, this insane like count caused me (who barely ever posts anything here) to come to the forum and create this exact post. So, Teone, thanks for saving me the trouble, but after this thread has been hijacked I think it would be wise to get back to the topic. I agree that the like button should be removed, or the system modified so it will not recognise more than one unique like. As it is, likes are currently worthless.
Personally, I would love to see a "difficulty" category instead.
:2thumbsup:

It was a surprise to me when I saw it  I also noticed at one point dinne's level had 666 likes, and Lore's level currently has 1234 likes... so weird! LOL

I remember how I bothered to equal the like count for BtB, to avoid people being biased.
I should do that for CaC but I'd have to click over 20000 times, so I won't bother  :annoyed: :wacky: :sneaky:

Maybe you should login in order to use this button once, otherwise it has no meaning.

I'm all for it, but who is to decide about how difficult a level is? What is difficult for a player is easy for another.
Michael said that he will implement this at the level's page if somebody tells him in which category of difficulty the game falls.
If this becomes a category (search criteria), all the better.

There are two ways one could go about it - one, the creator him/herself gives it a category of say 1 (easy) to 4 (hardcore), or there could be added a category in the reviews. For existing levels, someone (admittedly someone with a lot of time on their hands :D) could read through the existing reviews to come up with a difficulty level. I do know that some levels are already flagged as hard, but to see that, you have to click on the actual info page link.
Generally, I can think of three things that make a level hard: 1) overall darkness, 2) tight timed runs, 3) extreme platforming. Actually, I remember that there used to be a feature that collected often used words in the reviews, and looking a those, the most often used ones would stand out; this would make it a lot easier for said someone to see at a glance under what category the level falls. Sadly, I have not seen this feature a while now.

I really think that would be subjective and that it would somehow repeat the reviews whilst simplifying them. So, it might be a tad useless...

I agree that assigning a difficulty rating is overall too subjective to be useful. But maybe we could make things more granular and let users decide for themselves? We could introduce a couple of (non-scoring) ratings such as "gameplay length", "amount of combat" etc. and having them readily available to view would make it easier for a player to get an overall sense of difficulty, based on what that player thinks makes a game difficult. I acknowledge there's a large downside though, mainly that it is a lot of retroactive work, depending on the number of ratings added. And of course the act of deciding which ratings to add would be a matter of debate. So this suggestion is not very practical, but I figured I would throw it out there anyway.

Well we all know I hate timed runs and I can't play as good as everyone else, but to be honest, I have never seen a like button on here so I have no idea what anybody means. I'm just Brain Dead!
