Heart-breaking, isn't it. I haven't been to Paris for many a long year, but I'll never forget the wonder of standing in Notre Dame. :cry:

I haven't been there since 2002, that is in Paris, not France. That's 17 whole years! :-o It is a cultural tragedy. Anyway, I was lucky to have been there quite a few times (or next to it, not always visiting surely) and even once climbed up to see the gargoyles.

It's hard to understand how the fire spread so quickly in a place that should have been guarded like Fort Knox. Well, this wasn't Macron's fault, I think...

if i understood the tv-news here in DK it was because renovation
so there could easy be fire from a craftsman

I still can't believe it was burning. I've been to Paris at least 6 times so it was even more shocking, not to mention one of my friends was there two weeks ago... The French tv was talking about a "spectacular accident" and a lot of youtube channels were streaming the burning of the church. For a few hours people forgot about other problems and lived for this "spectacle". Now life goes on the usual way...
