April and Spring has started

Post by avmaster » 05 Apr 2018 21:22

Finally the winter has ended and temperatures have raised up to 20 c during the day and no low temperatures and frost at night. Today I wore the spring jacket for the first time instead of gloves and other typicall winter clothes. Check out this Lara Croft wallpaper, created by Micky:

Yes it has. Now, let's just hope the rain slows down. :)

I'm finally feeling better now that I have the right poultice to deal with abdominal muscle tissue injuries. :) So I can take on my daily load better (strength training, retail job, martial arts training, family obligations...), and I'll be able to resume my expeditions soon.

The other progress point is that I have a martial arts test at the end of April to get a black stripe (two steps away from black belt...). :)

I was able to enjoy cherry blossoms more as a result, and really liked seeing a squirrel relax on the deck.

Career-wise, I really don't see myself in retail long-term, for many reasons. But it'll take 1-3 years to be highly qualified to be a conservation officer.

Keep up your martial arts training, hang in there. As a young man i wanted to learn martial arts but it was not possible because of a disease. Years later I bought a ticket for the Shaolin Monk Show in Munich. Awesome martial arts performed live by these monks. I admire them and they have my respect for their great martial art and their strong will. It is still a great memory, i assume these monks are the best martial art fighters in the whole world.

Hey Michael, sorry to hear a disease impeded you from doing martial arts.

I'm glad you had the chance to see Shaolin monks demonstrate their skills. I'll need to look up their moves and see how it compares to three martial arts styles I tried (karate in DC, old-school kung fu in Idaho, and Kyukido in Georgia). Many martial arts styles teach something valuable.

I'm definitely keeping it up, martial arts significantly enhanced my life for 9 years, and at this point in my life, I want to know how to successfully defend myself. By black belt, I will reach that point.

Well, this week, I had the time and energy to add a trip to Frederick, and climbed up Cat Rock. I'll share some pictures in a few days, but now I see what I am capable of...my hiking and climbing skills are pretty good. :) And now I know what I can claim as Maryland outdoor heritage, there are some challenging climbs around.

I also missed the deadline for submitting a squirrel picture for the Washington Post's annual squirrel week by a few days. At least there is next year...

But instead of martial arts i started playing tennis. Over the years I became not bad for a hobby player. Of course not good enough for becoming a professional player like Boris Becker who was one the best german tennis players at that time. But in the local tennis club in my village I am on third place in the ranking. After i became 40 I am now in the ranking for older players lol. That`s normal to change from young player ranking to senior ranking.

Here are images of my latest adventure in Cat Rock trail! :) The climb to the summit was particularly exciting, with the sloped rocks to negociate! :D

Always interested in seeing pictures of local landscapes.
A fine rocky summit - but I hope that wasn't blood in the final photograph!

That was just the blood of one of the poor cats she murdered for the thrill of the chase. Nothing much really. :)

It's a ladybug standing on one of the rocks near the summit...All of these images are thumbnails, there are higher resolution pictures if you click on them.

Sounds like a good name for a level.

@Phil

It would be a great name for a level! Actually, now that I'm more intrigued by mountain climbs than history, for the levels afterwards, my question will be how to make an outdoor expedition become a workable custom level. I'd have to come up with some pretty good jumping sequences, ferocious wildlife, amazing landscapes...

Well, I'm ready for my belt test! I can't wait to get that black stripe tonight! I'm embracing more of my personal strength at this point in my development.

And I'm planning another expedition in the Frederick area next week, it's nice to alternate between the city and the mountains... :)
