June

Post by Hitsumei » 08 Jun 2017 03:35

Hello everyone!

I am now in Georgia, getting a nice first impression of the place by swimming in a hotel pool with lake water (great simulation for my upcoming job...). :)

The road trip was exhausting (first time I did it by myself), but memorable. While driving, I saw groundhogs wandering around, beautiful mountainous forested areas in Virginia, the Knoxville, TN sunsphere...

I will take pictures once I'm settled in, and have the chance to look at places to hike and such.

Thank you Pat and Ryan!

I feel so relaxed now, I have moved in and got internet set up. :)

I have a few more things to do, but I feel like I can take it easy now, and pace myself.

I'm looking forward to experiencing adventures and sharing them with you all!

Well, I've taken some important steps to make my Georgia residency official! :) I really feel like I'm a new home now, and in a new world. People are so friendly, and I'm learning to be more relaxed.

I had the time to explore a nearby park, here are some pictures!

terrific pics, Hits! lots of variety in "them thar" woods - keep an eye out for snakes! I wonder if that sweet bird was an infant, not sure of his flying abilities and Mom was probably calling out to "stay still".

@Scottie

If I can find a way to make money out of photography, why not? But right now, I'm very content with the job I have, I'm so excited to start! It's the moments I'm exposed to that allow me to take great pictures.

I have a basic Samsung camera from the computer store I worked for (and purchased stuff from prior to working there) that is pretty amazing. It's not some fancy professional Nikon camera, but it does the job for what I want.

It is true that the bird is not visible at all in one of the pictures, I had to really zoom in in order to show it to my landlord. :blush:

@Pat

Indeed I'm learning about the flora and fauna of the South. I will certainly be careful with snakes, I stayed within the trail most of the time.

The bird did appear to be an infant, the possibilities you mentioned could explain why it didn't fly away when it heard my footsteps.

Here are more pictures! :)

@vimmers

It's ok, I don't have an Imgur account, the pictures can be seen without an Imgur account (they did require looking at the Imgur website though).

It is true though that Imgur displayed fewer link choices than in the past.

I did find a better website though, postimg.

Fab pics, Hits.

I love watching the birds in our garden when they come to the feeders or have a dunk in the bird bath. Not so sure about the squirrel though. We have a pair living in our Hawthorn tree and they ate all our sorrel this year, which I was looking forward to myself. :D

Glad you seem to be settling in so well.

This morning was horrible for the users of public transport in munich. It was 20 minutes after 8 AM German time when two Police officers wanted to arrest a guy who started a fight in the line who brings people to the airport. The guy pushed one officer towards the arriving urban railway. It came to a fight between the officer and the guy. The guy was able to pull out the gun from the gunholder of the police officer. He started to shoot at people. The partner of the officer, a female police officer drew her gun and started to shoot at the guy. She hit him but the guy shoot back and hit her in the head. According to a police spokesman it has nothing to do with terrorism. The reason why it all started had been minor, just a fight between slight drunk guys. The female police officer has been taken into Hospital, her condition is critical. She is threatned by death and doctors fight for her life.

Video where withness reports about it in German:

Sorry to hear that, avmaster...

Some weird stuff happened in Georgia (two prison guards shot by inmates, who are now on the run) and in DC too (shooting of a politician while practicing baseball). :blank:

On a lighter note, I saw a lot of animals (squirrels and turtles, but also cats) near my apartment today, I'm practicing using a compass like Lara Croft for an upcoming hike (and for my job), will work out as usual, and will practice swimming. Tomorrow will be a busier day for apartment repairs. And then on Friday, my job begins! :)

@Jay

Thanks for the remarks. Birds are adorable to watch too, and I do admit that squirrels have a reputation for mischief :D , but I love squirrels nonetheless because they're so funny, the squirrels were my favorite part of the university I attended.
