Article about TRLE.net and the community?

Post by eTux » 13 Mar 2017 19:12

So, I was very (pleasantly) surprised to stumble upon this article on "Motherboard" by Jess Joho about our site purely by happenstance: https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/arti ... r-20-years
(btw, apologies if anyone else did the shameless plug, and I'm duplicating here... or worse still - if I'm stealing someone's thunder)

Cool stuff - and a bit surreal to read about the community as something of interest outside the community. And again - I can't believe it's been (almost) 20 years

I'm really impressed at how the article reflected the quality of the custom level community. :) It really is a special place.

Considering that Vice usually does reports on underworlds and eccentric phenomena, this is a pleasant surprise!

Now that I have a day off, I will continue playing Zipangu, maybe work on my level on Wednesday... :D

It was a good read, although I was mildly offended when the author starting making reference to dinosaurs.

I'm confused about their description of tank controls. When you hold Up in Tomb Raider, Lara always runs forward, she doesn't start "running backwards" when the camera angle changes as they said. :? I suppose other games of the time had that issue though. TR controls are absolute and not relative to the camera, which is one of the things I like about them.

Overall I enjoyed reading the article though, thanks for sharing it :)

Interesting - Thanks for the find, Elvis. Agree the article has come out reasonably well, although I have to say I am a bit annoyed that I never got to see it before its release (which would have allowed me to correct one major error in there) AND that I never got informed about its release in the first place either. Not a very professional practice of the author here... but oh well, glad about the little extra publicity for the community either way! :) :)
