January 2016

Post by avmaster » 12 Jan 2016 18:51

Seems like we don`t have a thread for the first month of the new year or I can`t find it. Anyway, after several weeks without snow we got the first snow in 2016 today. Not much, just a few inches and they were gone until afternoon because the sunshine melted it. We had no snow at Christmas and New Years Eve and also not on the other days in December 2015. December 2015 was more like spring than winter.

Snowfall since three days and still snowing. Maybe next week snowfall will take a break as we already have enough of it. Temperatures around 8 c below zero or even 10 c below zero here.

It's just dark, cold (not for you lot up there) and rainy. Dread.

The cold has returned, a blizzard is coming up...and a light snow event that people took less seriously caused a huge mess on the roads. :-o

At least I came home from work during a time when it was just coming down, and traffic wasn't too bad. Later on, I had to pick up a family member from a night class, and a major road was really at a standstill (0.4 miles/0.6 km in 1 hr!), so I had a plan B that I successfully implemented and came home at 11:30 PM. It's better to deal with 2 hours than being stranded for 9 hours, or to have to spend the night at a shopping center...

I'm glad I had enough driving experience to deal with this! :bandana:

Other than that, I started off my classes on the right foot, and I cleared the paperwork to apply for jobs again. And then I'm busy with a bunch of other things (boosting my fitness level, working towards my brown belt in karate...).

Great video, Sylwia!
....the disappearing stick...:)
looks like you had a fun time

Too cold here today to sit on the patio with a cup of tea and read this morning - it's only 54F / 10C - but the wind chill factor and rain atmosphere is making it too chilly to enjoy.
This mini cold blast will last till Monday and then back to a sunny time.
Our family in S. Carolina is enjoying the snow but there is a vicious snow storm to the North...lots of homes without heat :shaking:

Now that I have some spare time today, I'm going to try to take on the timed run with spikes in "Curse of Gold" (I know there are savegames available, but if I can, I want to boost my skills...). If I was able to finish playing "The Last of Us", I want to believe I can do this... :D

@Bene and Ryan

I am safe and sound, relaxing at home, in the face of the blizzard. :)

People were rushing to get bird seed, squirrel food and heated bird baths just before the storm. When the storm began, I was able to come home safely before it got worse. I'm glad the roads were pre-treated compared to Wednesday night... :anxious:

@Sylwia

Thanks for sharing the wonderful video and the amazing photos of your dogs. :)
