I know I could google it and it's not the first time I've heard of it but what is the Kwanzaa?

Never mind, I've just googled it: "...is a week-long celebration held in the United States and in other nations of the Western African diaspora in the Americas. The celebration honors African heritage in African-American culture, and is observed from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a feast and gift-giving." Why the Kwanzaa? Why not every other thing on the planet? Who here celebrates the Kwanzaa?

Just another festivity in the same timeframe.
Some friends half-heartily celebrate it.

Why google when wikipedia is more comfy for these things.

Why not every other thing on the planet?
Well, yes, personally I celebrate the solstice, as I can't stand this darkness all the time.

But most friends celebrate, well, not really Christmas unless they have children, but still along the Christmas way, traditions and customs.

No need to take offense.

Why? Happy birthday to my Grandmother who was born on Christmas. My great-grandfather wanted to show her the Christmas tree and because these days Christmas trees used to be hung below the ceiling (at least in our region), he raised my newborn grandma high up there (imagine the beginning of Lion King). Then he span the tree to show her all the sides (like you spin other things which hang). But these days the lights put on the Christmas trees were made of REAL candles... so the whole tree got burnt within a couple of seconds, together with majority of our Christmas ornament supplies. Thankfully, the great-grandfather was a fireman, so they quickly handled the problem... and back then there was also more snow to handle such problems... a pity my grandma was too young to remember that. True story!

I wish you all yummy stuff and no house tree fire, and just in case have loads of puffy white snow as well. Today there's none here, and it's quite warm like it usually is in September. Not even raining like it usually does when it wants to substitute the snow. No ice, no cold. At all. I wonder if the Winter is really coming.

what would Christmas be without a hilarious movie of DJ and Fiodor? Loved it, DJ! Make sure you don't miss it when you access Advent Calendar 12/24 (Forge).
