My new rock music album

Post by EssGee » 06 Oct 2015 09:51

A little gratuitous self-promotion here.

As some of you know, over the last two years, I have been working on a new rock music LP.
The project goes under the artist banner of Mazz-XT and the album will be called AT THE BRINK OF ETERNITY.
The album should be released before the end of the year.

I was a rock musician in the 70s through to the 90s, but gave it away for a change in career and to raise a family.
And then along came Tomb Raider, and you know my history here.
I hardly touched my guitars in the last 20 years as I had lost the passion for songwriting (which is my main interest).
But after learning to work with digital work stations to create and record the audio compositions for the last two BtBs,
I got my passion back and had an outpouring of writing new material. I'm influenced by the music I grew up on - Led zeppelin, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath and Bad Company.
I have written and performed all the songs on the new 10-track album.
I'll keep you posted with progress, as I'm just getting things together with my social media and distribution.
In the meantime, I've uploaded a sampler track on Soundcloud that you can listen to, and even "like" it if you do.

Mazz-XT - THAT'S THE WAY WE ROCK

Would be happy to receive feedback too.
Cheers
Scott

Haha, finally :D :2thumbsup:

I somehow hardly disattach music from raiding either, and I can literally hear this song in Lara's jeep driven through a canyon. "That's the way we rock" - she collides with stone obstacles. "That's the way we roll" - she negotiates a boulder fallen from the ceiling. "Full steam ahead" - she uses mounted nitro... "take a chance to roll with us" - the boulder pushes the vehicle off the cliff.

It reminds me of the eighties hard rock bands.
"I waved to my neighbour/My neighbour waved to me/But my neighbour/Is my enemy/I kept waving my arms/Till I could not see/Under fifteen feet of pure white snow"

Thank you ALL! :jump:
Nice to hear that is has some appeal.
I'm obviously happy with how it's turning out, otherwise I wouldn't contemplate releasing it.
But just like with game-building when you've heard the song a thousand times or more during the writing and recording process, you get to a point where you don't know anymore.
So it's nice to finally have some fresh ears listening to it.

I think Tomb Raider could benefit from a more "rocky" musical approach to the audio tracks. Why not use more of that style in future levels?

There are probably several tracks on the album that would fit right in with Tomb Raider.

You should make a video for it doing this. I'm making a lyric video for it now just so I have some audio-visual for it but it will be pretty simple. So to have Lara choreographed to the song would be fun.

Currently totally busy with the trailer, that's why I typed this instead of building :D . But Fluen is right, we could push it further - let's set BtB16 in Stone Age and fill it with rock music. This would also solve the problem with insufficient TGA space, because all the materials are limited to whatever comes from raw nature, while heavily processed stuff isn't yet invented and we could use the remaining canvas for smooth transitions these levels usually lack. Also an excuse to trim the weaponry - Lara would only have, a bow, a heavy spiky club and semi-automatic dual pitchfork... Oh and the light could be made with a flint instead of flares... and a whole new life could be given to your dino baddies... yes, I bet we could go full variety with a very lightweight wad...

It seems I went into daydreaming chain [goes back to work]
