Happy 4th of July! :fireworks2:

I've been working on so many things (between work, studies, hobbies, family...) that I am so glad I can finally catch a break today. :) I do have my favorite spot for watching fireworks, but this year, in the spirit of actually taking a break today, I plan on watching the fireworks on television.

Since the 1st July we here have extremely high temperatures(35 to 40 C during the day and 20 to 25 at night). Firebrigades fight against forest fires and people have a hard time outside their homes. In a town nearby the public watersupply got interrupted and people were forced to get water from the emergency supply. WHO recommended to stay inside the house and don`t spend too much time outside. Germany lost the match against Great Britain yesterday in the Woman`s FIFA World cup and thus Germany takes fourth place and UK third place. The final is Japan against USA.

It was nice watching "A Capitol Fourth" on PBS, which had a host of traditional and recent performers, along with a great fireworks display. :2thumbsup:

@avmaster

I did hear about the heat wave in Western Europe. I didn't realize that Germany had forest fires too this year, and sorry to hear that a town's water source has been imperiled... :(

.
that movie was on TV yesterday, DJ.....lol no surprise there!

I was able to catch John Wayne's recording of "Why I Love America" on the radio and caught some of Fox's montage of people telling why they love this land and when and why their ancestors came here....
and we went to see "Max" - a really good 4th of July weekend movie

To make things more bad twelve people drowned in rivers and lakes during this weekend. Among them two children, four and six years old. Lifeguards searched four hours for the four year old but it had been too late. The six year old was found quickly but he was already dead and despite the effort to revitalise him the emergency physician could only tell he is dead. For the northern parts the forecast says severe storms, hail and lots of rain. In some areas tornados are possible. If the forecast isn`t wrong my area isn`t affected by all these threats.

Watched it today as streaming video because it was late night here when the match started and this was too late for me. Nice goals, especially the one scored by Carli Lloyd as she scored 50 metres away from the japanese goal. 3 times Women`s football world champion, a record which will be remembered. Gratulations to the Women team of USA, a deserved world champion.
