No Magnus?

Even though I have several levels yet to play (all higher-rated ones), I feel this is the most successful BtB in recent memory. There was not a bad level in the bunch, the team did a masterful job compiling the tools for the builders, and the end results were highly satisfying. Congratulations to all.

Congrats, Tombraider95, Bigfoot & Mman! :2thumbsup: Wow, that's 3 wins in a row for Bigfoot - really incredible! :eek2: :2thumbsup:

Congrats to the winners of the Player Competition as well! :2thumbsup: 12/18 correct guesses for Manarch - wow! :eek2:

I wish I had been eligible for the Player Competition - I'd have placed at least 2nd: I'm pretty sure I would have guessed Tombraider95's, Bigfoot's, Jose's, Thierry Stoorne's, Lara Croft's and Mugs's levels correctly. And nobody could fail to guess DJ Full's level correctly. :D

Last, but not least, thanks to all those who built the amazing BtB package! :2thumbsup:

Yeah, that's surprising. He hasn't missed a BtB in years. Maybe he got the end date wrong?

I'll echo everything Phil has said, this year's BtB was truly amazing. :2thumbsup: And wow - I actually guessed some correctly lol. In past years I always randomly placed my votes, but this time around I was sure I had one right... well, I think we all got DJ Full's right lol. :hammer:

Congratulations to everyone who took part! 8)

I need to repeat here from the hidden forum - epic music for the winners :D

For me, this BtB falls among the top three BtB competitions ever commenced, right next to Venice and Northern Legends. Great stuff, and the preparation time was awesome. Everybody should join such event at least once, so even if they won't finish a level, they can feel the great atmosphere of the building period in the top-secret forum. Only then, one can fully know what this competition is about. Go on - everybody joins next year! ...and nobody leaves to vote :D

Congratulations to Tombraider95, BigFoot, Jesus C. Croft and also Treeble and RelicHunter! :2thumbsup: :2thumbsup: :balloon:

I can't believe how much guesses of mine were actually right this time, although I had 8 "save" ones (just the ones that Mytly had in her list, plus Greywolf and Marksdad, minus Mugs). The rest was just puzzling around... this time, I actually had no debut / 2nd levels right, what saved me the 2nd place in the last competition :D

Some builders leave their signatures. For example, my level contains a baboon on a torch shelf, which is a reference to Clara I met several times and usually betatest for. Also the Wat Khmerger secret is my usual pun of editor features. Finally, the psycho killer portal is M- shaped, for "Maciej"... well the last one could also stand for "Marksdad" or "mugs"... but Marksdad always places an inaccessible medikit. On the other hand, many builders including me placed inaccessible medikits as well in order to distract You players. Naah, these signatures are futile.

I agree - it was great fun participating in the builder's forum this year, even though I didn't finish my level. :) But next year, I'm going to do the opposite, and be a player only.

Indeed!

IMO, builders' signatures are less about what they consciously do - like putting in an inaccessible medipack - and more about what they unconsciously do. Some builders tend to build levels that have similar looks or atmosphere again and again - Jose, for example, tends to include a large canal or river in his levels; Bigfoot's levels have an overgrown, lush feel to them, with lots of plants (though admittedly, almost all the levels in this BtB had lots of plants); a number of Thierry Stoorne's levels (including his BtB 2013 entry) have darkish lighting with very bright water and deadly pools; and so on. It's not hard to notice such a pattern emerging when you play a number of levels by the same builders.

Of course, this means that next year everyone else but Jose will have a river in their levels, and Bigfoot won't use a single plant object ... and I'll be hopelessly confused. :-P

Congratulations to everybody who won! What a great competition it was this year filled with excellent levels all around. :2thumbsup:

I have to admit I was really surprised at who built the levels, had quite a few of my guesses be completely wrong! Though it was pretty hard not to guess DJ Full's level correctly, with the charming eccentricity and everything. :)

Grats to Manarch on winning with guesses! You topped my record of 10 correct guesses from BtB 2010! :-o

Going to look forward to next year's Back to Basics! :D
