Hi and welcome to BtoB JCC.Jesus C.Croft wrote:Hi there ! This is my first time with the Back to Basics building competition. Certainly the theme is very promising and I can picture several great levels will be made with the resources we will be getting in the near future.
I've read the opening post and it says we can use traditional method of scripting. I take for granted we can do it, but I'm going to ask it anyway: can we use distance fog if needed instead of using volumetric fog? Just to make sure. Thanks in advance !
It's a conditional 'Yes' to distance fog. Yes you can use it and set your own fog colour in the script, but you cannot change the distance parameters. These have been set in TRep, and have been set to optimize the game for heavy object load, drawing resources etc. It's a bit of a trade-off, because it only kicks in at longer distance. If you wanted to create more claustrophobic fog, you would probably use local fog bulbs.
It's the one thing that some builders with recent Op systems will have to contend with. I will post in the builder's forum again the instructions for DosBox usage for those that require it.larabiker301 wrote:Oh Lord, I completely forgot about DOSbox. That program was so annoying last year, since; I had windows 7. Now that I have windows 8, it'll probably do everything I want it not to do.
The other thing I can offer is that builders could send their script and I could compile it for them. But that would be rather limiting, because you wouldn't have the convenience of experimenting with colours for fog or sky.
