Back to Basics - Northern Legends - Registration Closed

The registration for Back to Basics: Northern Legends is now closed :balloon:
The building phase will be approx. 4 months from early October 2012 to until Jan/Feb 2013. That depends on the amount of people signing up for this and how things are going during the building phase.
Read more about the theme here.

Please note that you will not be given immediate access to the BtB Northern Legends subforum and the package. The subforum will be opened up for the participants sometime this month.

For those of you who are new to Back to Basics:
The "Back to Basics" challenge is to build a single level of about one hour net gameplay with every builder using only the supplied wad and texture set for BtB Northern Legends. The levels will be released by the author "BtB 2012". This way reviewers can send in their reviews without favouring any levelbuilder. The builders will be revealed about 2 months after the levels have been released. Until that time, no builders is allowed to give away any information about who built which level. The builders with the highest ratings win the competition.
The players can submit guesses about who built which level and the players who have guessed most levels and builders correctly will win the player's competition.

Back to Basics is targeted at both experienced and unexperienced/new builders. In BtB we will be using an old version of the NGLE (which is much more stable than the original winroomedit but it does not support any of the new TRNG features) in combination with an exe that is slightly patched with TREP so that the exe can handle large levels and detailed objects.
Audio tracks, objects, textures and so on will be part of the BtB package that the builders download. The only tools you may use in this competition to build your level is the supplied version of the NGLE, the converter and tomb4.

I'm looking forward to all those wonderful levels you all are going to build! For the past few months a group of very talented people have been working hard to compile the package for this Back to Basics challenge and now the package is very close to completion :jump:

Nadine.

I've been longing to join the previous BtB, but I wouldn't have had time for it. The case is the same again, though even if finishing in time is almost hopeless, I'd love to give it a try this time!

Oh, I sooo want to join ... but I'm 99% sure I'll never be able to finish the level on time (I still haven't finished my BtB2011 level :-P ). Still, at least I have until the 30th to decide whether or not to sign up.

I almost got a level done on the last one. Ended up beta testing...
So I'll give it another go again. Exciting!

Looking forward to all the levels of those who already registered! :)

Regarding myself, I want to finish my current project (and judging from my "skills", it will take months) and thus I think I won't enter the competion this time. :|

If this helps your decision-making, Rufierto:

I imagine it's the same NGLE version used since BtB Peru. I do not recall the version numbers right off the top of my head, if that's what you wanted to know.

I have no time, so there's maybe 1% chance I will even start. But better to register and build nothing than not to register and then wonder what would it be like if I had registered.
