The TRLE London Mini-Meet

Post by Marksdad » 23 Aug 2010 00:44

Hello all.
A few of us got together at the weekend to explore some of Lara's old stomping grounds :)
Myself,Michael P,Von Cory,Buck,Gandalf,Moonpooka and an Official Photographer spent Sunday literally following in her footsteps: we went treasure hunting in the overgrown ruins of a church;explored the crypt of All Hallows;visited the long-abandoned Aldwych Tube Station;went to Thames Warf (or as close as we could);and ended up at St. Pauls.
Many photographs over the next few days from the various attendee's,but here are a few that I took for starters:

Entering the Crypt of All Hallows (Gandalf,Michael and Moonie):

It was narrow and cramped down there! (Michael and Buck):

An extremely atmospheric ruinous Church where we went Treasure Hunting:

You can't really resist this opportunity, can you? :

The long abandoned Aldwych Tube Station.Closed to the public for many years now,you really need to search it out :

More to come from the other members of the mini-meet in due course (and with thanks to Buck for some of his pictures and for being such a superb Tour Guide :2thumbsup: )

Excellent, looks like you had fun :2thumbsup: Looking forward to the remaining pictures :) (love the one where the arrow with "London's scariest attraction!" points to Michael :D  )

Seems like there can't be enough TR meetings for some folks :D But I suppose I should be one to talk with my mini-Ljubljana meet, Amsterdam meet and Bad-Grund meeting this year alone :innocent:

Here are some more piccies then :D

All Hallows 1 - group pics..
Image
Image

a group discussion on architecture :anxious:
Image

you will always find an old church situated between the modern buildings. It's quite uncanny
Image

a beautiful building with three stone horses in front of it. We couldn't go inside, but when you looked through the gates it was quite spooky - i could imagine Lara exploring it
Image

All Hallows 2 - because there are in fact two of them - and this is the one we are sure Lara visited as it's much bigger than the first one
Image
Image
Image
Image
the many model boats you see inside are replicas of real boats, and are placed there so that the congregation can pray for the crew and/or sailors lost at sea

down in the crypts :freakout:
Image
Image

then on to Tower Bridge and the memorial to the Great Fire of London
Image
Image

and that beautiful hidden garden
Image
Image

inside, there is also an insect hotel where various insects live and are able to replenish their supplies. I wasn't going to look too far into that tho LOL
Image

London Bridge
Image

and another strole
Image
Image

ah, of course a group huggle by the Tomb poster
Image

erm, and an invisible man :shifty:
Image

on to St Pauls
Image
Image
Image
Image

exhausted
Image
Image

then sadly, we had to say goodbye to Michael and Regina :(
Image

and proceeded on to Ludgate and Aldwych
Image
Image
Image

saying goodbye to Buck :(
Image

and heading back to the carpark, i spotted some concrete bunnies, so i just had to get a pic :D
Image

Hope you enjoyed the pics :2thumbsup: Hopefully we will do this again soon and maybe some more of you can come along. It was wonderful to meet everyone. I hadn't met Buck or the lovely Regina before and it was so nice to meet them. I have to say a huge thanks to Buck for being such a fab tour guide and teaching me so much about London that i never knew, and to Ian for his taxi service and his amazing sat-nav

Fantastic photos. I was once in London but only for one day, so I was able to see only Buckingham Palace and Piccadilly Circus  I love old English architecture, this garden is just amazing :-o  And how nice you won't forgotten Tomb Raider memories, Aldwych and All Hallows :2thumbsup:

Yes indeed - it has been great to meet Val again - more than 5 years (!!) after the Big London Meet, and Cory again after an even slightly longer period.
Amazing how Val has grown up over time, while Cory still looks as young and beautiful as ever - or was it the other way round...? :D :D

Very glad it worked out seeing Ian as well, after we did not manage to get together at the TR Meeting this year and of course big THANKS to Buck for his hospitality over the weekend! We had a blast! :)

For more pics from Regina and myself you can check this gallery here: http://www.mprager.de/gallery2

And not to forget that Buck has posted his pics as well: http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/buckcw/OnLaraSTrails#
