Steampunk won the poll fair and square and it will be our BtB 2011 theme. Oh, and in case I haven't officially said this yet: we will move the BtB competition from winter 2010&2011 to spring/summer 2011. This is because A) so that the december/january time won't be crammed with advent and BtB levels and B) I don't think I can get the Steampunk package done by August/September ;)

......and so goes another tradition.
:(

I like the Advent levels quickly followed by BtB but time is needed so if it has to be postponed, so be it.
....just don't have to like it, is all :D :)

Questions: When is there going to be a thread for people to sign up for the project? I'm shaking in my seat right now.
Hoping I can build a level for the Btb. What game engine would we be using. TREP? That's what I'm guessing from some previous posts in this thread.

Sorry if I sound like a complete newbie. But, I've always loved the Btb Levels and have always wanted to build a level for it. :D

Hi Tombraiderfreak ! Since it looks like Nadine needs additional time for creating the wad, you can be sure it will be quite a while before she publishs an invitation for builders to sign up. I would just keep checking back here to try and keep tabs of the timing of the competition.
Of doggie candle fame!

Will this contest use the old TREP Engine?
Or it will be use the TRNG like the CS Contest?
Or even this contest won't use any engine?

I would prefer TRNG. Not to use any of the options it offers though but with the drawing distance set to 127 it solves the ugly clipping from objects into walls and such but this is just me.

I approve of the new time frame. Purely selfishly, it suits me *immensely* as I haven't been able to take part in BtB before as Sept-Jan is the busiest time of year in my job. Plus the new theme is absolutely the best way forward, I think it's a very positive move and will really keep the competition alive. Having a new 'destination' each year was great as it was, but expanding the theme to something which has never been used before (as all the previous destinations have) will be very exciting both to build with and play. :2thumbsup:

Yes, that ... and maybe a few additional goodies as well... we'll worry about those when the time comes, but I am sure we will have prizes that are about as interesting as those from BtB2010 ( click) ... or those from Complex Simplicity 2010 (click)
