Thanks all :D

I was just so happy to be a part of Lara's travels that I knew I needed to make an effort. Judging by the posts, it looks like I succeeded.

All I need to to do now is learn how to use the Level editor as well as I used my camera !!!

Sooo.. Where's she off to then?

Thanks for sharing all those nice pics of your lovely country, have been touring there once and still planning to go back there one time. I simply loved the scottish countyside.
Still remember a place called "The Neuk" with a hotel called the "N..." Hotel (this one only for the Dutch spoken) I still wonder why that name stuck to me :-P

I seem to remember that word coming up on some subtitles on certain Dutch video tapes. :-P
Maybe the actors and actresses have all been to the same Scottish hotel then

Anyway, glad you liked the pictures, Scotland too

Lara goes Back To Basics in London 2007

Post by Kitkat » 17 Jun 2007 16:29

Image

As 2007 was the year Lara went Back to Basics in London, Lara and I decided to revisit all the places in London she went to in Tomb Raider 3. :D

THAMES WHARF

Image

I couldn't find an actual area called "Thames Wharf", although there are several small wharfs along the river, so here is Lara on the Thames Embankment with Big Ben, the Houses of Parliment and the London Eye in the background.

Image

Many people think the cathedral in the "Thames Wharf" level of Tomb Raider 3 is in fact St. Paul's Cathedral . It is not named as such in the game but there are similarities in the architecture.

ALDWYCH

Image

Aldwych tube station has been closed since 1994. And although London Underground used to do guided tours of the dis-used stations they have stopped this in recent years due to 'Health & Safety'! Image

LUD'S GATE

Ludgate was the western most gate in the London Wall. Some sources say it was built by the by King Lud, an ancient British king, in 66 BC - but others say it is more likely that the Romans build it, and that Lud renamed it after himself.

Image

The plaque reads - Site of Ludgate demolished 1760.

Image

Lara said it made a pleasent change to enter the British Museum via the front door!

Image

This is Lara and a red granite relief of Amenophis III. {All you can see are his legs and feet.} Luckily we got out of the museum without the guards shooting at us...

CITY

Image

In case you didn't know the City of London is guarded by a collection of dragons! It's true! There are several of them spaced around its perimeter. The largest pair are on The Embankment, facing towards Westminster. {It is one of these Lara is photographed with.}

On the plinth beneath the dragon it says: "CITY OF LONDON - These dragons represent a constituent part of the armorial bearings of the City of London and have been erected to indicate the western boundary of the City."

ALL HALLOWS

Image

All Hallows by the Tower is the oldest church in the City of London.

All Hallows is 1300 years old with a crypt museum, Roman pavement and arch and Saxon and Roman artefacts. There are historic registers on show and a brass rubbing centre.

Image

This is Lara in the oldest part of All Hallows, an arch that dates back to Roman/Saxon times. The church survived the Great Fire of London but was not so fortunate during World War II. Itsuffered bomb damage and sections of it had to be rebuilt; but lots of it were saved including the above arch and medeival tiles and floor stones.

By now our little feet were getting sore so we decided to go home. On the way we passed this street and had to take just one more photo:

Image

And just in case anyone is wonderind - Yes, it did rain on us... Image That's London for you...
