The opening screen tells you that you're about to enter "the unknown valley." Step forward and pick up the useless PACHAMAMA, whereupon the trap door beneath your feet opens and you slide down into a sun-splashed jungle lagoon. Don't worry about the insects fluttering about, as they're harmless. From the spot where you landed in the water, pull out N and make your way along the grassy bank N, NW, N and W until you can go no further (bamboo shoots and a clump of flowers meet you at the dead end). Pull up N onto the short block and look up SW to see something in the wall you'll come back for later.

Go back S until you reach the large palm tree growing out of a short block near the water's edge. Pull up onto that block, jump up E and pull up higher E. Stand jump SE to a triangular ledge, take another standing jump SE over the bamboo shoots to land on a stable surface, and continue S toward a hanging vine and the waterfall. Take a running jump S over the hanging vine and grab the triangular ledge. Shimmy right, pull up, turn left and stand jump E to grab the higher block. Pull up for shotgun ammo (pickups are relatively scarce in this level, so I'll document all that I could find).

Stand jump N down to the ledge below, turn around and face the hanging vine. Take a running jump S with grab, just to the left of the hanging vine, and you should land safely in an alcove with flares. Stoop to pick them up, work your way back to a standing position near the wall and hop out of the alcove. Retrace your steps along the bank to the same palm tree referenced earlier. Hop up E as you did before, but this time turn left and pull up N. Face E and side flip onto the slope. Slide and grab the edge, and shimmy left around the corner until you reach an opening partially obscured by a hanging vine where you can pull up. Run forward into the short, dark passage, turn left and find a wall switch. Pull it down to lower a nearby block.

Go back and jump out of the opening through the vine to land in the water. Swim S back toward the waterfall and pull up onto the S bank. Continue SE along the bank until you reach the lowered block in the S wall. Enter the alcove and pick up the CROWBAR. Exit, turn left and vault up onto the short block with the plant with the large fronds. Note the crack in the wall to the right of the plant and jump up to grab it. Take a ledge jump up (with the action key still depressed, tap the jump and up arrow keys) and pull up into the alcove for the SHOTGUN.

Drop back down, get into the water and swim across to pull out onto the N bank (again, near that same palm tree). Continue along the bank to the dead end W, pull up onto the short block to the right of the plants and stand jump up slightly SW. Step forward and use the crowbar to pry the HAND OF ORION off the wall. Slide back down, jump into the water and swim W along the narrow channel. Turn right into the alcove, walk forward to the N wall and jump up to grab the crack. Ledge jump twice to the top, shimmy right around the corner, pull up and back flip to a stable surface where you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the area. There's nothing you can do up here, however, so jump down into the water and work your way back into the N alcove.

This time ledge jump only once and shimmy right around two corners. Just around the second corner, ledge jump to the top, pull up and back flip down to an alcove with a small medipack. Jump back into the water, continue swimming W through the narrow channel into a new area and loop around right to pull out onto the W bank. Turn left and follow the bank toward the W wall. When you reach the triangular green mound that blocks your path, take a running jump W over it and jump immediately upon landing to land on a green triangular ledge. Pull up into the N crawl space and crawl forward until you can stand up in front of a vine-covered opening.

Draw weapons and step into the dark opening to draw out a giant spider. When it dies it explodes as if you'd used explosive ammo. Continue to the end of the passage and push the block on your left at the end. Pull up right and run to the end of the passage. Turn right and step into the opening that overlooks the lagoon. Hop down to the ledge below for a small medipack. Turn around and pull back up to the opening. Take a running jump E to a flat spot, then stand jump E to grab the protruding ledge. Pull up, turn slightly left (NE) and stand jump onto the sloped ledge. Slide down, grab and shimmy left around two corners. Drop down onto a flat ledge and pick up SECRET #1.

Two fire wraiths come to life, so safety drop to the slope below and slide down into the water to douse them. Swim NW and pull out onto the W bank. Locate the crack in the W wall, jump up to grab it and ledge jump to the next higher crack. Shimmy left and release at the vine veil to grab the crawl space. Pull up inside and crawl around to the left for the LASER SIGHT. Push the W pushblock to reveal flares, pull up N and follow the dark passage to SECRET #2. Another fire wraith is released, so get through the vine veil and down to the water before you're set aflame.

Pull back out onto the W bank and go NE as far as you can to a green ledge. Face the N wall and jump up to grab the ledge. Pull up onto a stable surface and walk to the E end. Take a running jump E through the fern plant into the alcove and pick up the REVOLVER. Pull up right and make your way E along the upper ledges until you reach a grouping of grassy clumps that hide SECRET #3. Of course, two fire wraiths attack, so slide down to the safety of the water below. Pull up onto the W bank and onto the NE ledge leading to the previous revolver pickup. But this time, stand jump up to the left of the fern plant and turn around to face the well-hidden W jump switch.

Stand jump W to activate the jump switch and you'll slide down to a ledge. There's no indication of what you've just done, but a block has been lowered nearby. Hop down SE onto the bank and loop around left to find the opening in the N wall. Pull up into it and insert the Hand of Orion to see that a target has rolled into sight in a wall crack somewhere. Drop out of the alcove and run to the S end of this island. Combine the revolver and the laser sight and look up SE at the far wall (just to the left of the plant with the large fronds). Find the target in the niche and shoot it to open an underwater gate.

Jump into the water and swim N through the opened gateway into a new area. Continue straight N to the waterfall and pull up right. Turn around and jump SW for shotgun ammo. Jump into the water and swim S toward the opening by which you entered. Stand up in a shallow area to the left of that opening and jump up to grab a crack in the wall. Shimmy right and pull up into an alcove. Vault up left and pull the block out of the wall. Use the block to grab the crack in the E wall. Ledge jump up to grab the sloped ledge and shimmy left until you can pull up to SECRET #4. The usual fire wraiths arrive, so safety drop and slide down into the water until the coast is clear.

Pull out in the same shallow area to the left of the S opening leading to this area. Use the crack in the wall to access the alcove, but this time pull up right and shimmy to the corner. Pull up and jump forward. Go to the W wall and jump up to grab the crack. Shimmy right around three corners and drop to grab the edge of the alcove (then again, you might just land inside the alcove when you drop and attempt to grab). From within the alcove, face NW and take a running jump to grab the crack in the W wall. Shimmy right as far as you can and ledge jump up to grab the higher crack. Shimmy right around the corner and drop to grab a vine-veiled alcove. Pull up, turn right and quickly pry the HAND OF ORION off the wall before the fire wraith sets you aflame. Slide down into the water to douse the wraith and swim to the NW corner of this area. Wade up to the N wall to the right of a palm tree growing on the bank. You have to be positioned just right to pull up onto the ledge without falling back down. What worked for me was to stand close to, but not at the corner, jump up to grab the ledge and shimmy twice to pull up precisely at the vertex.

Hop up higher (note the closed door ahead) and walk NE toward the waterfall. Turn left at the edge and jump N to grab the ledge. Shimmy right past the waterfall and ledge jump up to grab a higher crack. Shimmy right around the corner. You can see the destination crawl space beneath you as you turn the corner, but you can't access it from here. Continue shimmying until you can go no further. Release but then press the action and up arrow keys while you're dropping (otherwise, you'll slide down into the water when you land). Jump up and grab the crack. Shimmy left and pull up into the crawl space you saw earlier. Drop down the other side and insert the Hand of Orion in the receptacle to open the door you saw on the way here.

Get back down and return to the NW corner. Repeat the tricky pull-up move described earlier and jump up N to the open door. Enter and prepare to do battle with a giant spider. You now have a choice between a NE passage and a W passage. Take the W passage and pick up a TORCH. Take it with you through the NE passage and drop it near the closed gate. Turn around and on the way back note the cleverly disguised jump switch. Jump up to activate it and the gate behind you opens. Retrieve the torch and hop down E two times.

Take a running jump to the block in the water (which is deadly, by the way). There are several translucent ledges in this area that are difficult to spot. Take a running jump E to the first one, step forward and stand jump NE around the corner to the next one. Drop the torch momentarily to activate the jump switch on this face of the pillar. A nearby platform is raised. A running jump N (with the torch) takes you to the next translucent ledge, followed by a stand jump NW around the corner. Jump up W to the raised platform (notice a lowered platform above it) and stand jump SW to the next translucent ledge. Jump up SE onto the central pillar and stand jump E to the next translucent ledge. Finally, take a running jump up NE to the final translucent ledge, drop the torch and pull down the wall switch to raise the second platform. Take a running jump NW to the raised platform and light the torch.

Make your way back down, either by retracing your steps or by creating a shortcut for yourself. When you reach the raised block in the water, take a running jump W to exit this area. Hop up the blocks, take the W passage and light the brazier against the S wall. The W gate opens, so leave your torch here and enter the next room. The gate closes behind you, so pick up the small medipack now or later, draw weapons and deal with two giant spiders. One of the vases near the S wall hides shotgun ammo.

Pull down the wall switch obscured by the ferns in the W wall. The S gate opens, so enter and slide down to end the level.
