Please stop this you two, just agree to disagree :beatnik:
I totally did, in the post immediately preceding yours. :D

And that's where I'd like to leave it (for the time being, at any rate), so I hereby declare my official withdrawal from the discussion above in order to...err, move on to greener pastures or something. :toot:

Maybe I can help put a positive coda on this discussion. I see that DJ has recently reviewed the subject level, and I've just finished my own replay. (As Mulf himself observed in a PM to me, there's no such thing as bad publicity.) I reviewed Heroic Manliness years ago and can't review it again, but I can certainly take this opportunity to confirm that it's a damn good level that kept me occupied for over an hour and a half. I was dreading the prospect of playing what many of the reviews say is an uncharacteristically dark raid, but I was pleasantly surprised in this regard. It's no bouquet of light, to be sure, but I could see everything quite clearly and was provided many more flares than I needed. There are also some delicious carnage opportunities where you get to choose among your favorite death-dealing options. I don't have the background to comment on the various technical issues raised in this thread, but if you're looking for a working definition of Back to Basics, you need only point to this 2001 release. A good level is timeless, and I probably enjoyed playing Heroic Manliness more this time than I did earlier. Dutchy may want to revise his walkthrough to document that early secret, now that we all know where it is and how to get it.

There is no need for that, if you all know as you say :D
Already sent a revised walk to MP, somehow it doesn't show on my site yet.. Runs off to investigate.. :hammer:

Natla Technologies Building, by Greywolf.

The walkthrough:

Enjoy the opening FMV that shows how Lara gets onto the roof of the Natla Technologies building. Locate the nearby trap door and pull it open. Drop down...

Don't drop down yet. Run around the central structure, and at its back (W side) pick up flares, uzi ammo and desert eagle ammo.

20 Years of Memories, by MBog.

The walkthrough:

ANOTHER DEEP PIT, 4th MEMORY (2nd paragraph)

...Gates open to your right, so drop down E into a room containing guided missiles. Get down to the lowest level of this room to find a group of pushblocks. The blocks are on three levels, and it appears to be your objective to create a bridge that allows you to move the topmost block over to the E ledge...

I think that task moving all that pushblocks is just for fun. In my game it wasn't necessary. I simply moved the topmost block to the SW corner and then to the SE corner and used it to jump to the high ledges near the missiles.

AspideTR Easter Time - Scaramucce, by Talos

There is an error in the walkthrough (last paragraph):

Return to the nearby room where you acquired the Silver Dragon. Go to the player at the back of the room and insert the Tomb Raider II PSX to conclude the level.

There isn't any player at the back of the room where I picked up the Silver Dragon. The player to finish the level is in the room I opened with the Mansion Key.

I didn't have to reload the level to realize that you're correct. I've made the change. Thanks, José.

The Last Emperor (TR2), by Tr1997

Not so much of an error, but the last paragraph of level 11 reads:
When you enter the next room, out comes the chicken monster. A good thing he's there to command your undivided attention, because you would die if you attempted to climb onto the central structure to get that pretty gold thing. When he finally falls over dead, the level ends. Wonder what that Hut Key was for?
There might be a bogus trigger somewhere in the room that causes the guardian to spawn earlier, but the 'Hut Key' (actually the Gong Hammer) is supposed to be used to summon it. As this is such a remarkable level set (in opposite world), here is a video to jog your memory.

(PS Please don't mind the Evanescence audio layer, it's just a temp video anyway. BTW Let me know when I can delete it.)
