Score!!! :jump3:
7 ft poster - thanks to my local games store. :2thumbsup:
Finished my first run through the PS3 version in 2 days. Loved it. Of course it will never be like old-school TR, but it's a good compromise with the way modern games are going.
Some people may be surprised by the gore and language, but I think it adds to the whole immersion. I didn't want to put the game down.
Starting on the PC version now, controls are a bit harder to master on PC, but it looks fantastic. I can run it smoothly on normal settings. Tried Ultimate settings but that caused lagging.

Just started on the Xbox, taking my time to milk it as long as possible. I personally love it. It's as though TR is finally a game again, rather than a cult following relying purely on its awesome fanbase. Very dark feel, as well, which is cool.

On a side note, i was going to go for the Collector's edition, but heard it was rather disappointing (they don't make Lara figures like they used to)

On the PC do we still have save-crystals or can we make our own savedgames?

It autosaves so you are essentially in game the whole time. There are regular camps as well, where you can stop and upgrade skills, weapons and gear.
The reload spots seem very logical. there is also a function that allows you to revisit areas to complete extra stuff. There are also multiple save slots that you can use.

Ah good, I was hoping there was an easy way to revisit locations (I know I missed something already)

I just reached the aeroplane-scene we have already seen in trailers and REALLY enjoyed the 8 hours I already spent in Yamatai. I expected I would like it, but I never expected it to turn out as one of my favourite games ever (I can't say anything about it, until I'm finished, but so far there certainly is potential)

Jim, a general tip for battling. Release the aim button and then press again, and it will auto-target enemies. Makes it much easier to pick 'em off. Will come in handy later on when the action heats up.

Ah Haaaaaaaa !!! Thanks !!!

Update: WOW !!! I just borrowed an Xbox controller for windows, and it’s much better than the keyboard / mouse. Many of the cues, and menu options are directly tied to the Xbox buttons. Unfortunately, I don’t think any other controller will work – my Nostromo N45 didn’t. Even the Xbox buttons are pre-mapped, and can’t be changed, but it made a huge difference in control (double tapping the aim button for auto-aim didn’t work for me on the keyboard, but it does with the controller).

Happy with the 43fps i'm getting on high settings (ultimate was giving me 12fps!!!!!) ....... I really like the game but the forced button commands at specific points are a pain with a keyboard/mouse. Gonna dig out my xbox pad too I think.

Nice tip about the double tap auto-aim ........ Does it auto-target for a head shot?

Btw....... 2 days??? I think It's going to take me a couple of weeks at least!!

It says "Download Permission Denied by uploader" - maybe that's why :(

Hey there Jon. :)

I'm playing on the PC now. And seeing Jim's post above, I'm thinking I was giving a bit of a bum steer, because the auto target thing worked on the PS3, but I haven't figured it out on the PC yet. But as he's said adding the Xbox controller through the PC makes it work. If anyone works out the auto target using the keyboard that would be useful to know.
I think the Auto target just zeroes in on the enemy's body. For head shot you gotta do it manually and from memory it gives you extra points for that hit.
Play time - yeah about 15-20 solid hours should get you to the finish line. But there seems like plenty to explore that I bypassed on the first pass. e.g the forest areas - you can spend a lot more time just scrambling around and exploring the bush there.
