Lovecraft?

Post by Manymee » 25 Sep 2018 15:19

Lately I've been really into reading Lovecraft. I find that most movies are a bitter disappointment, and only a few animated fan-made movies really manage to get the atmosphere right. So I'm wondering, is there any interesting level that you guys know of, which has a lovecraftian feel? Suggestions are most welcome!

Maybe some games by Richard Lawter are those that are closer to a weird science genre, but... no giant lovecraftian octopus anywhere :)

Mulf has created a level called " The Lost Mountains of Heroic Madness".
Normally based of " At the mountain of Madness".
But it's just the very VERY beggining of the book. Lara not visit the ruins.
I remember seeing some pics of the sequel but I don't know if he will release it a day (I hope yes  ).

Ah but you see, giant octopusses are only half the story! And sadly, the half that most game/movie producers concentrate on.
One of my favourite HPL stories is called "The Nameless City", and just like "At the Mountains of Madness" (which is my other fave) it is about explorers, finding a silent, weirdly built, spooky city. The monsters/aliens/elder things only play a small role. It is much more about the atmosphere he builds in these explorer stories - and of course, I believe, that trle would be the perfect engine to create, if not non-euclidian, but at least spooky surroundings with a lot of culture to discover. :)

You could suggest this kind of setting / atmosphere for the next BtB package. I'd like it too. :)

good idea! I have no idea where the place to suggest would be, though, as I've never managed to get into level building myself. :)

I have indeed downloaded this a few weeks ago, but something put me off it (don't remember right now as I have a terrible memory and a lot is going on in RL) but I'll look back into it later today so I can give a proper opinion on it.
