About Dracula's Return

Post by Fluen » 16 Sep 2017 01:03

I have just found and played this level - three times. Yes, I enjoyed it. :D

The readme says the creators of the levels had had a problem for about a year. George Maciver had an idea, that helped them solve the problem, and is thanked for that.

This has led me to wonder: what problem was causing the building team all this grief, and what idea did George come up with?

I also wonder about a part of the gameplay in Dr. Seward's Sanatorium - the gnomes. Is it intended, that the original gnome sometimes breaks, so Lara/player will have to use one of the secret gnomes?

There are clear references to both Dracula and The Fearless Vampire Killers - both seen as books in Dracula's castle. The same goes for the ending narration about bringing the evil out into the world, which is what happened in The Fearless Vampire Killers. But in this case I don't think a vegetarian, wine-enjoying vampire is too great an evil. :)

That problem was the baboon crash Clara wasn't aware of. George came in and explained it to her.
Funny enough back then we were dealing with the identical problem in the crashing Khmer wad.
So it's yet another time when things would be solved faster if builders were in better contact :D

Ahhh - there is someone who has actually read the readme!!! :2thumbsup: :D

The breaking gnome in the Sanatorium is not intended - it sometimes happens, so Masha left the alternative gnome as a secret. At least is this the thing I remember... :hammer:

Yes, I'm the type, who always read the manuals to everything, I've aquired, so I know how to do things correctly. This includes games. Sadly, this doesn't prevent me from dying over and over again in Tomb Raider.

Thank you for clarifying the gnome-mystery for me.

As mentioned, I enjoyed the game. Well, I was scared during my Whitby-exploration after the discovery in the container. The other levels were sheer adventure for me.

This level sounds good, so I DL it and it crashes at start up and so does Cake World. Any clues why?

Did a system restore, it worked :D

Before Lara goes into the sewers, she passes an area with a lot of cargo containers. One of the containers is open and contains a scare :freakout: and a key.
