Three more guesses:
London's Armageddon?
Sintech Heist 2: Escape from Sintech City?
The Town of the Doomed?
Dark City, but not Dark City, what is it?

Re: Dark City, but not Dark City, what is it?
@DJ Full - the Jungle level in question, i think, was by EssGee... I was so lost...
- Serpent City screenshots are very unfamiliar.
@Eric - I had a good look at that one too, and it doesn't fit the bill.
@TombTitan - my thoughts precisely - was my monitor just a lot darker back then? But even if - the area I remember, and the overall atmosphere, were dark. Not dingy dark, not filthy dark - just not a lot of spotlighting or colours. A big map, yet simplistic. Definitely a city. No skyscrapers; rather normal houses, buildings, a canal?
Jerusalem Project, I watched that on youtube, and not only would I have not in a million years been able to figure this level out by myself, but also it's a southern setting, so def. not a candidate. Same goes for any Horus levels - watched lots of them on youtube lately - leaving Illyaine as a builder; I'll have to check those levels out.
@DJFull again - oh my. I joined this forum in 06 - it stands to reason I discovered trle.net around that time - Give or take 2 years? Say, 08?
@MrJavi94 - London's Armageddon is too sci-fi; Sintech Heist 2 I actually just downloaded and played to check, and no it's not the one; Town of the Doomed is too "pretty" (advanced lighting etc) I really think the level had a standard Lara model.
Quite the brain teaser, is it not?

Re: Dark City, but not Dark City, what is it?
@MrJavi - I downloaded all these - no

Re: Dark City, but not Dark City, what is it?
THIS is ticking all the boxes as to lighting, buildings and general atmosphere! I'll give it a shot tomorrow

Re: Dark City, but not Dark City, what is it?
So? Was it the one? Just curious

Re: Dark City, but not Dark City, what is it?
Sorry for the late reply - I got a new job and will move house soon, so things got a bit hectic and Tomb Raider had to take a back bench. I did try it though, and though it does indeed tick the boxes, particularly atmosphere and the textures of the buildings, it seems a hellova lot harder than the one I remember - also I tend to remember tricky rooms I have played before, and the first really tricky room in this level already feels entirely unfamiliar. So, I think it's not "the one".
