Don't you have a save just before this point? On dry land?
My PC froze when I started to swim.. so I can't help you.
Oops, I did it again... Image

Just stick close to the wall as you swim towards the ledge and you'll be safe from the current. :)

Does anybody have a save from the beginning of this level? I'm stuck after the detonator in Bartoli's Hideout, I can't make a jump across the water to get up the blown-up building, and the next save is very far into the Opera level and I don't want to miss out on the gameplay.

How come you can't climb up the building? Use the slopes and ledges on the bottom floor of the house to climb up
