Tanne - Green Secret

Post by Mulf » 26 Jan 2018 15:19

Has anybody actually made it past the underwater fan near the end of level 3 without cheating? I’ve been wasting my time trying to find a way to turn it off; now I find that the walkthrough says I’m supposed to simply swim near the ceiling in order to sort of pop up into the room above through the opening in front of the fan while it’s still on.

However, if it actually works this way, it must be by virtue of a fluke after attempt no. 50 or so. In fact, technically it shouldn’t work at all, because the current produced by the fan is already active on the tile with the opening, which should (and indeed does) prevent Lara from surfacing regardless of its strength.

Here it is. Go down and straight forward. (I’ve already pulled the underwater switch on the ceiling). Thanks in advance!

easy now i also started this :D
but started to play from start
and already found a big big big error made by Dutchy
quote from walk part 1
Look for the pushblock in the N wall, you can get a Torch inside, but you will find no fire to light it
i think the flame emitter only trigger if u use the hand of sirius first
you can also light it after u opened the doors by a torch near the hill just inside the doors

Looks like I started something I couldn’t finish. :D

vimmers is right as far as I remember; being stuck in that place with nothing better to do, I placed the one hand that I had, and it triggered the flame emitters. I had no use for them at the time, but later I used one of them to light the torch.

By the way, it’s possible to get to the bottom of the bottomless pit in that area by an entirely legal (if somewhat tricky) sequence of jumps that starts at a corner of the tile with the flame inside the temple. I was expecting to find another secret along the way, but there’s nothing there.

Oh, and another one: the swamp that had so many reviewers stumped is actually quite easy to get across: the safe path is marked (with suitable subtlety) by the reeds. The walkthrough isn’t quite clear on this point. You simply go straight ahead, then turn right; that’s all. (The fixed camera is needed to prevent the camera from passing below the water surface.)

Thanks vimmers. :)

I think this issue needs to be resolved though, as it appears I got myself terminally stuck, and I don’t know how. Is the underwater lever timed? Possibly, although there is no indication. If it is, it’s one of those you can’t reset.

EDIT: Wait a second. The fan is still on in your save, and so is the current. HOW DID YOU DO IT?

P. S.: José already found the shotgun, it’s appended in a note at the end of the walkthrough (but it should perhaps be incorporated in the walkthrough proper).

didn't actually read the walk. only to see where u was stuck
and saw that the shotgun was missing early in the walk

Do you (or Mulf) have a Savegame before you pull the Ceiling Switch?

As you can see, the standards were considerably looser when we embarked on this lucrative walkthrough-writing career. I'm sure that if Dutchy were to play this level and write the walkthrough now, everything would be laid out clearly and completely in apple-pie order. I've sometimes thought about going back and beefing up some of my early walkthroughs. The urge quickly passes, however, when I realize no one else is playing the level and there's no active stuck thread to rely on. But then threads like this one come along, so...

i have now tested it several times

with lever she can go straight to the hole everytime
she can even swim back to the lever and back to the hole
as long you don't reload
without use of lever she be sucked in in the fan

 so you found a wery wery big error

You guys keep this up and I will never be out of work. Those days I wrote how I played it and fo through, so if it worked for me (regardles of it being a bug or glitch), that's how it would end up in the walk. Nowadays I will know it is a glitch or bug and will investigate further to find the correct solution

I'm not at home at the moment, but I promise I will check it out when I'm back
