You were right! Now I encounter these problems, too.

Sometimes I can fix it by loading an older savegame, let's say one number before.

Now to my problem.

After inserting the Wooden Cog Switch which opened a door, I followed a way high above the area to a new cave, inside I turned another Wheel switch.

Underneath I heard a door opening somewhere. But where is this somewhere? Seems to be inside the mountain.

Thanks !!!

Drop down and search for a crawlspace in the same wall.

You don't need it anymore, look for a key and get down again.

I went up the elevator in the tower but find no way how to proceed from there.
Any hint?

Did you try other btb 2014 levels?

Maybe you take a fresh btb2014 level package and try to start it again. You can also try to use old savegames. But, in case the savegame is corrupted, you maybe need to start from scratch.
That is the first level!
I copy the level package new.
But I can use the savegame, but I must try it again and again.

It is simple to install, just copy all the files of the level you want to play and just paste (replace files there) them into a fresh player package, no need to copy paste all the files one by one.
Can be the TR4.exe plays tricks, did you try "run as administrator"? (I have no idea what OS you have..)

Stuck again. After shooting the two jewels to raise a block I can't see how to proceed. I can get to the wooden platform and jump toward the chain but I don't see how to disable the spikes. Am I on the right track?

Mugs, I guess that is directed to me, but the bird is being rather cryptic. :| If the bird means the west end of the balcony, I tried that, too, but I still couldn't figure how to proceed.

(the bird does mean the west end if that is opposite the spike alcove): there is a place to back-flip onto from the roof edge......some work needs to be done there.

Thank you again, Mugs. I finished the level but I missed the lion's head key. Any hints?

After you place the two Dried Lillies which create platforms to get across to the big valley, there's a second platform to the right. It leads to a hidden alcove.
